    law department. She attends to sectional title developments, conventional, sectional and shareblock transfers and residential and commercial bonds. Subashnee served as a committee member of the Umhlanga Area Committee of the Durban Chamber of Commerce.

  • Barry Lewis

    Barry is a member of LLI's property law and conveyancing department and is widely respected for his thorough knowledge of property law matters, accumulated over more than 30 years in practice. He has developed specialist skills in township developments, both in terms of the land laws promulgated in the early 1990s and the more traditional legislation still used by developers in the upper end of the property market. For several years Barry lectured conveyancing for the Law Society of South Africa to law graduates aiming to qualify as conveyancers.

  • Anisa Govender

    Anisa joined Livingston Leandy in January 2018 as a consultant and will, with effect from 1 March 2018, be a senior associate with the firm.

     

    Anisa was admitted as an attorney in 2001 and has practiced as a partner, director and associate in a number of prominent Durban law firms.   Anisa has extensive experience in many aspects of shipping law, particularly ship arrests; admiralty litigation; emergency marine casualty response; ship finance; regulatory and general admiralty advice as well as ship and cargo sale and purchase.

     

    Anisa is a member of the Maritime Law Association, of which she is the past secretary, the Durban Marine Insurance Forum, the South African Maritime Professionals Forum and an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Ship Brokers.  She previously served as the representative of the Maritime Law Association on the Ethekwini Maritime Cluster.

     

    Anisa is an external examiner for the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Shipping Law Unit.

    Claudia was born in Durban and matriculated from Westville Girls’ High School in 2006. She went on to study at UKZN, Howard College where she obtained a B Soc Sci (majoring in Psychology and Legal Studies) and then a LLB.  After graduating, she completed her articles at Woodhead Bigby Inc and was admitted as an attorney in 2013.  She joined LLI as an associate in November 2016, where she specialises in the administration of deceased estates.  Out of the office, Claudia keeps active and enjoys dining out and travelling.

  • Hlengiwe Skosana

    Hlengiwe is an attorney with experience in labour law and civil litigation. She studied at NMMU in Port Elizabeth where she obtained her LLB degree. After graduating, she completed her articles in Port Elizabeth and was admitted as an attorney in 2013.  After completing her articles, she worked as an Associate in civil litigation and labour.  Hlengiwe relocated to Durban and joined Livingston Leandy Inc. in July 2017 where she continues to work in the labour and civil litigation departments.  In her spare time, Hlengiwe enjoys going to gym, running and spending time with family and friends.

  • Peter Andrew

    Peter Andrew is an experienced attorney who specialises in litigation as well as commercial and labour law.

     

    Peter taught at the Inlinqua Language School prior to moving to Brazil in 2002, where he worked for the LEX legal foundation in Sao Paolo, developing legal course work and lecturing.

     

    In 2003, Peter moved to Japan where he taught at a number of schools and universities as well as assisting individual and groups of executives in legal and accounting firms. Thereafter he moved to China, where he ran an export business out of India and Shanghai. He also lectured a bridging course in international relations at the China East Normal University in Shanghai for six months.

     

    Peter returned to South Africa in 2005 to take up a position with a Durban firm, where he remained as a Senior Associate Director until resigning in 2011 to establish his own firm, Andrew and Associates.

     

    Peter currently sits on the board of and advises a number of foreign owned companies

  • Greg Paola

    Durban born and bred, Gregory qualified and was admitted as an attorney in 1972. He practiced as a partner at L J Paola, Wright and Wilkinson from 1973 to 1990 during which time he also qualified as a conveyancer and notary.  After gaining experience in various aspects of the law, Gregory eventually decided to specialise in conveyancing, property law and commercial law.

     

    Gregory became part of Livingston Leandy when L J Paola, Wright and Wilkinson merged with it in 1990.  In 2002 he was lured into commerce by a client for a special project which was completed in 2005. He then returned to Livingston Leandy as a consultant.

  • Anja Schramm

    Anja is an attorney who specialises in family law, particularly matrimonial cases, maintenance, domestic violence, child “custody” matters, universal partnerships and antenuptual contracts. She completed her LLB degree at Rhodes University and served articles in Durban. From 2011, she has worked exclusively as a family law attorney in private practise and joined LLI as a Consultant in December 2017.  Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, fitness training and dining out.

  • Craig Anderson

    Craig has specialised in Magistrates Court litigation since 1990 and manages the firm's collections and recoveries department. He has extensive experience in assisting body corporate and property management companies in recovering arrear levies in terms of the Sectional Titles Act. As a lecturer at the Practical Legal Training School, Craig shares his considerable experience and knowledge of legal procedures with university graduates who are preparing for admission to the legal profession.

  • Kay Naidoo

    Kay is a Director of LLI and has more than 20 years' experience as a litigator, focusing on commercial and property litigation.  As one of the firm's attorneys with rights of appearance in the High Court, Kay acts as in-house counsel in many matters. He is nationally acknowledged for his expertise in property and town planning issues, particularly relating to municipal implementation of zoning and town planning regulations. Kay has extensive experience in land restitution matters and appears regularly in Land Claims Court. He is also conversant with administrative law and tender disputes. Kay has been appointed a liquidator by the Master of the High Court.  He also serves as a commissioner in the Durban Small Claims Court, which is a voluntary, unpaid service to the community in terms of the legislation designed to make justice more accessible to those who would otherwise be unable to afford it.

    Nike is an admitted attorney, notary and conveyancer of the High Court of South Africa with more than 17 years’ experience in corporate and commercial matters, having worked as in-house counsel and as a director at respected regional and national law firms. His experience includes drafting and advising on commercial contracts and company law, with particular expertise in corporate structuring, BBBEE, mergers and acquisitions, finance and securitization, IT/e-Commerce, consumer law and commercial property.  During his professional career he has acted for listed multinational agricultural and agri-processing businesses and property developers, as well as for prominent transport and logistics corporations.

  • Charne Goosen

    Charne graduated from the North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus in 2010 with an LL.B. degree and in 2012 with an LL.M. degree in Environmental Law.  She completed her articles in Pretoria and practiced as an attorney and conveyancer after her admission in 2015.  Charne relocated to Durban and joined LLI as an Associate in January 2018 where she practices as a conveyancer.

  • Ishara McKenna

    Ishara McKenna (ATCL, LL.B., LL.M.)

    Ishara lived abroad in the Netherlands for five years, during which time she graduated with an LL.B. from the University of South Africa and an LL.M. specialising in Public International Law from Leiden University.

     

    In 2014 Ishara was competitively selected and funded as the African candidate to intern at the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea in Hamburg, Germany, a judicial body established to adjudicate disputes arising out of the application of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

     

    In 2015 she interned at the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in the Hague, where she worked with the legal team supporting Judges on a high profile war crimes judgment relating to the genocide and war crimes committed during the Yugoslav Wars in the 1990s.

     

    Ishara returned to South Africa in 2016 to join LLI as a Candidate Attorney and is now an Associate in our Commercial Law department. She has had exposure to a wide range of commercial and corporate matters.

  • Nqobile Pretty Mthiyane

    Nqobile was admitted as an Attorney in 2016. She is an associate in  LLI’s Litigation Department specialising in personal injury and insurance law.  Nqobile has specialised skills in civil litigation in the lower and High Courts.  Nqobile also has experience chairing disciplinary enquiries and providing advice on certain labour issues.

  • Kirtsy Steytler

    Kirsty joined LLI’s Conveyancing Department in 2007 as a conveyancing paralegal. Whilst working full time, she graduated with an LL.B. degree from the University of South Africa in 2015.

     

    Kirsty was appointed as a Candidate Attorney at LLI in 2016 where she gained experience in general litigation whilst continuing to focus on conveyancing and property law. She passed all four board exams in her first year of her Articles and went on to write both the Conveyancing and Notary Public exams in her second year, achieving the highest Conveyancing exam mark in KwaZulu-Natal.  She was admitted as an Attorney, Conveyancer and Notary Public on 2 March 2018.

     

    Kirsty is now an Associate in LLI’s Conveyancing Department. She has over 13 years experience working with conventional and sectional title transfers, estate transfers and private bonds. Kirsty is looking forward to taking on the challenges her new role at LLI will bring.

  • Lance Coubrough

    After 38 years, Lance has retired as a director of LLI but continues to serve the firm and its clients as a full-time executive consultant.  During his time in legal practice, Lance has developed skills in corporate law, offering extensive expertise in commercial, company law, tax, trusts and estate planning matters.  Lance is able to assist with company registrations, shareholders agreements, drafting of Memoranda of Incorporation (MOI) and all related agreements.  He is also fully conversant with the New Companies Act.

  • Gordon Pentecost

    Gordon Pentecost (B.A., LL.B cum laude)

    After 40 years Gordon Pentecost has retired as a Director from LLI but continues his association with the firm as a consultant.  During his time in practice Gordon focused on High Court and Magistrate’s Court litigation. Gordon continues to lecture at the Practical Legal Training School and is a member of the National Examination Committee which approves examinations and marking procedures for admission of new attorneys.
