Ishara graduated with an LL.B. degree from the University of South Africa and an LL.M. degree specialising in Public International Law from Leiden University in the Netherlands. She has previous international legal experience working for the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea in Hamburg and the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in the Hague.
Ishara is an Associate Attorney in our commercial and corporate law department where she works on a wide range of commercial and corporate matters. Within this department, she assists clients with drafting and advising on commercial contracts and company law, corporate (re)structuring, M&A and consumer and privacy law compliance.
She is an external examiner for the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s law faculty and also provides pro bono assistance through United Nations Volunteers to organisations such as the United Nations Development Programme.
